Outback dining in heritage style
Meet, eat and discover in the heart of Longreach
The Welcome Home is part of Longreach’s heritage precinct in Eagle Street. The Kinnon family have restored the 1920s hotel (which was built after a fire destroyed the original Welcome Home Hotel named to honour soldiers returning from the Boer war).
It’s an amazing part of our town’s pioneer history and now a great place to enjoy a coffee and quality, homestead-inspired cooking – breakfast and special evening dining options in the winter season (April-October). There’s free Wi-Fi too.
You’ll find The Welcome Home Restaurant at 128 Eagle Street. Booking is required for evening dining options. (BYO)
Big breakfasts
In the April-October season, enjoy the biggest country buffet breakfast in town! It’s perfect if you are staying at The Staging Post and is also open to any hungry travellers and locals.
Adult $29
The Welcome Home Café
From April to October, the coffee is brewing, the scones are baked and there are tempting cakes and light lunches.
The café is currently closed. Join us for breakfast or dinner instead.
Evening dining choices
Depending on the day of the week, you can enjoy either The Stonegrill® Dining Experience, which has moved hot-stones from the campfire to the dining table, or Country Classics Dining with all-you-can-eat dessert bar inspired by homestead cooking and CWA favourites. BYO alcohol.

From our guests
A local friend recommended this restaurant and WOW! The Stonegrill meats are good, you cook them yourself on the stone plates which you cook your meat on; but the sauces are delicious. We don’t eat desserts but this is included in the meal ticket … and they are homemade! Yum!

I went for the trio – crocodile, kangaroo and steak… the meat was so tender that it was better to alternate between the dipping sauce of choice and straight carnivorous pleasure! The service was outstanding, very friendly, but not overly intrusive…

We had breakfast at the Welcome Home Café a couple of times and never went away disappointed. Plenty of well cooked food with something for everyone. Morning tea of scones, cream and jam – very yummy. Fantastic staff, nothing is too much trouble.
